Steering wheel and components

A steering wheel (also called a driving wheel, a hand wheel, or simply wheel) is a type of steering control in vehicles. Steering wheels are used in most modern land vehicles, including all mass-production automobiles, buses, light and heavy trucks, as well as tractors

Steering column and components

The steering column consists of three major components, a steering shaft, a shift tube, and a column or mast jacket. The steering shaft connects the steering wheel to the steering gear unit through a universal joint type coupling.

Axle and components

An axle is a rod or shaft that rotates the wheels and supports the weight of your vehicle. Axles are essential components of any vehicle and come in three main types: front, rear, and stub.

Axel parts

  • Dead axle
  • Control arm
  • Coil spring
  • Cross bar or link
  • Spindle

Speedometer and components

When the vehicle is in motion, a speedometer gear assembly turns a speedometer cable, which then turns the speedometer mechanism itself. A small permanent magnet affixed to the speedometer cable interacts with a small aluminium cup (called a speed cup) attached to the shaft of the pointer on the analogue speedometer instrument. As the magnet rotates near the cup, the changing magnetic field produces in the cup, which themselves produce another magnetic field.

Speedometer parts

  • Gauge pod
  • Tachometer
  • Speedometer
  • Water temperature gauge
  • Oil pressure gauge

ECU {Engine control unit} and components

Fundamentally, the engine ECU controls the injection of the fuel and, in petrol engines, the timing of the spark to ignite it. It determines the position of the engine’s internals using a Crankshaft Position Sensor so that the injectors and ignition system are activated at precisely the correct
